I love listening to feminists from older generation. We have some much to learn from them! And they have such interesting stories, every time.

As for the butch-fem dilemma... as you said, in a sexist society, it's not a surprise that some masculine women end up thinking they're superior to feminine women. I definitely experienced that - not butch by any mean but I used to look down on very feminine women.

I don't think the butch-fem dynamic is condemned to recreate the men/women hierarchy and is inevitably toxic.

Side question : I'm French and I don't understand what "being in the trade" means.

The trades are considered, plumbers, construction, electricians, auto mechanics and so on.

Thanks for the comment, and I agree, I will have more to say on the butch femme thing in a future episode. But I agree, I think some butch women do the whole “not like other women “ thing and look down on other women. But I don’t believe it’s inherently a butch femme issue, it’s just an issue overall.

Juste realized I had never seen femme written before. I thought it was “fem” like feminine and not “femme” like woman in french.

This was a great listen. I wish reporting on the trans issue in this country would stop casting it as a fight between religious conservatives and progressives. Anne Menasche is a great counter example to that reporting narrative.
