I don’t think it’s that younger women don’t want to live on the land. It’s that it is difficult to survive economically in rural areas. This was also a problem in the 70s and 80s, but it’s gotten much harder.

My experience has been that’s it’s more expensive to live in rural areas. Someone would need an income source not reliant on working.

The internet has changed things in that regard; but some women's lands still do not have satellite, though some are working on that because not being wired is a no-go for all but the most ardent off-the-grid enthusiasts.

If you have a trade, you might be able to craft a reliable income from it, with a vehicle that is. But most young women are not in that position, cannot make enough to live on women's land in a sustainable way.

I agree, I know living has gotten so expensive. I honestly don’t know how young folks just starting out do it.

So do you see lesbian land eventually going away because of this?

No, I see a revival going on, with young women coming in, even when they can’t afford to live on the land. Festivals and events hosted there, work parties, skills-sharing.

Because of income issues? Jobs and such?

Yes. Jobs are low-paying, or non-existent, even for non-wild-looking lesbians.
